In fact, California school funding has gone from first to worst in the nation over the past fifty years. In Manhattan Beach, only 20% of local property taxes come back to our schools. So, while other cities with top-ranked school districts pass parcel taxes to make up for the lack of funding, we rely on the community’s donations to Manhattan Beach Education Foundation to maintain high-quality schools.
