14. Aspiring Surgeon Still Carrying the Tune
Necrotizing enterocolitis is a terrible disease which affects premature infants. Michael Zobel, MC’07, recently researched under Dr. Henri Ford at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles looking for a pediatric therapeutic intervention for this disease. Before Michael graduated from University of Southern California, he led his college’s a capella group in performances from Alaska to Times Square. Michael is now completing his third year at USC Keck School of Medicine and recently won the MEDSTARS Medical Student Research Competition as well as the Dean’s Recognition Award. Michael gives much credit to Costa’s AP teachers who dedicated countless hours in preparing him for the rigors of college, and to Heather Gold and Sandy Schnieder for instilling within him a lifelong passion for music.
