24. A Ph.D in Literature in the Making
Let’s get literal here. Chase Gregory, MC’08, headed off to Tufts University and completed her degree in English in 2012. Today, she’s a Ph.D. candidate in Literature at Duke University. Her thesis is going to focus on visual studies, comics and queer theory. She had many teachers to thank for developing her love and passion for English, starting with Keith Ashley in the seventh grade. “At Costa, I found teachers – like Ian Drummond, William Brown, Jonathon Westerberg, Shawn Chen and Bill Fauver –whose lessons continue to influence me and who taught me to enjoy the performative joys of literature”. Chase plans to become a professor in Literature after her Ph.D. program.
