7 & 8.  Make money studying and give some back.

ROB STONE and SEAN-PATRICK BURKE, Study Hutrob stone

Tutoring as teens was a great jig for our next two Mustangs.  Why not make it a business?  That’s exactly what Rob Stone, MC’01, and Sean-Patrick Burke, MC’03, did after receiving their degrees from University of Colorado-Boulder and Loyola Marymount University, respectively.  In 2006, the pair started Study Hut with their first Manhattan Beach location.  Today, Study Hut has over fifty employees at four locations with a hip, fun culture in which to learn.  Giving back is core to its business philosophy.  At MBMS and Costa, they have sponsored Scholar Quiz for the last four years.  Moreover,  they recently started a nonprofit, Study Hut Foundation, which offers free tutoring to needy kids in Lomita.  Not stopping their own learning, Rob and Sean-Patrick just started a weekend M.B.A. program through Arizona State University.
