11. Helping Others Improve Quality of Life
ELLEN LESERMAN
While a teen, Ellen Leserman, MC’09, shadowed a neighborhood kid to his occupational therapy sessions at the Pediatric Therapy Network. The experience impacted her so much Ellen decided to enroll in Boston University’s Accelerated Bachelors/Masters in Occupational Therapy. Only seven students are admitted into the coveted five-year program directly from high school. Ellen wants to help patients with traumatic brain injury, a population she served while working at Tufts Medical Center. Upon her graduation this spring, Ellen heads to Chicago for a full-time clinical stint at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, which is affiliated with Northwestern University.
