Each year parents and the Manhattan Beach community generously support the many programs of excellence in our schools through MBEF’s Annual Appeal. Introduced in 2023, Rock the ASK serves as MBEF’s donor appreciation event for those who are significant contributors to the Annual Appeal Campaign goal of $5 million each year.

This year Rock the ASK, will feature local favorite, Wayward Sons! Known for their nostalgia-fueled rock shows, Wayward Sons will treat MBEF supporters to an afternoon of hits from the greatest bands of the ‘80s, including Journey, Queen, and Guns N Roses. Thanks to our incredible sponsors, entry to this outdoor concert is complimentary and includes all food, beverages, and fun!

All donors who met the ASK of $2,500 per student, MBEF Community Partners, and Annual Appeal Campaign volunteers should have received an invitation by mail. If you did not receive an invitation, please call the MBEF office at 310.303.3342.

What is Rock the ASK?

Rock the ASK is an annual celebration concert dedicated to celebrating the incredible community support for Manhattan Beach public schools through MBEF’s Annual Appeal. All parents who donate the MBEF ASK of $2,500 per student in MBUSD schools to help reach the annual goal of $5 million are invited. The appreciation event will be filled with live music, dancing, and community spirit as we ROCK to support excellence in education in Manhattan Beach.

Who is invited?

Parents who contribute to the Annual Appeal at the ASK of $2,500 PER STUDENT in MBUSD schools will receive an invitation in the mail the first week of February. To verify the status of your donation to the Annual Appeal this year, please check the Annual Appeal Donors for 2024-25. Significant supporters and volunteers involved in the MBEF’s Annual Appeal will also be invited to attend this complimentary event. All guests will receive their tickets once they RSVP.

Can I purchase tickets?

Rock the ASK is a donor appreciation event and tickets are complimentary for parents who contribute to the Annual Appeal at $2,500 per student in MBUSD schools. If you would like to attend, please make your Donation or Pledge to the Annual Appeal before the end of the campaign on January 31st. 100% of a donation to the Annual Appeal pays for MBEF grants dedicated to programs that support Class Size Reduction, Counseling and Support, Physical Education, Reading, Writing and Literacy, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math (STEAM) and Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA). When will I receive my tickets?

The invitations will arrive in the mail the first week of February. Rock the ASK is for invited guests only and requires a ticket for entry – please use the QR code on the printed invitation to RSVP by March 5th. Electronic tickets will be emailed once a guest confirms his or her attendance.

What can I expect?

Rock the ASK is an outdoor concert with a festival like feel – a variety of food, beer, wine and spirit options will be available for all to enjoy thanks to the generosity of our MBEF partners and event sponsors. Take advantage of backyard games, visiting with friends and other MBEF supporters while singing and dancing to the 80’s hits by Wayward Sons!

Where will Rock the ASK be held?

Rock the ASK will be held in the outdoor parking lot of Kinecta Federal Credit Union at 1440 Rosecrans Avenue in Manhattan Beach near the Manhattan Country Club.

Is this a family event?

Book your babysitters now – due to the nature of the event, Rock the ASK is for adults-only.
